kenratboy
OK. DD/DTS receivers UNDER $1000. What can I get, what should I look for, etc. I have seen rave reviews of the Denon's, like the 3802. What about the Pioneer Elite's? Will be using sensitive Klipsch speakers, so power isn't critical. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. KLIPSCH soon! My computer is better than my stereo!
Seb
What about Harman/Kardon? Just looking at the specs, the products look damn impressive, like the AVR 520 for instance... ------------------ http://members.fortunecity.com/sebdavid - go laugh at my crappy website/equipment http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mc.asp?alias=Sebdavid - go laugh at my puny little DVD collection
Maximo
Mabey even look into the Marantz 7200, I know I really liked the sound of the 8200 and the 7200 is prolly fairly close. I think acceseries4less has a 7200 for pretty cheap, they sell refurbished Marantz, and are certified with warranty ect This message has been edited by Maximo on 03-29-2002 at 08:47 PM
Mlstrass
I'm using the 3802 to power my Legends. Sound is awesome. Plenty of power and all the options/features that I wanted. 7.1 is truly the way to go.... Picked it up online for under $700.
kenratboy
SO: Harman/Kardon Denon Marantz Are they all good in the ~$1000 range? ANY OTHERS for a short list? ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. hwatkins
You should be able to get Denon 3802 for $850 or a little less if you forego the authorized dealer/warranty route. I have seen deals in that range from authorized dealers, but it will require quite a bit of shopping. Otherwise look to spend right at a grand. I vote positively for the 3802 - have run it through the paces here at home and efficient speakers allow it to keep pace, even if you have the mains and sides set to large and loud enough to really irritate the pets. Folks have complained about a Denon 'hiss' that I cannot get without outrageous volume settings - they call me lucky. ------------------ Hwatkins
