boa12
c&s, i'm only as far as jpg & when i do that it packages it like ray's above. do you have to use or convert to another format, or how do you get it to display instead of just showing that clickable link? ------------------ My Home Systems Page
Ray Garrison
Boa - To get a picture to appear in your post is multi-part workaround. 1) Click on the Upload your Files link. 2) Upload a file. 3) It'll insert a text file name into the "Attachment" text box. 4) After you come back to the page where you're typing in your clever prose, click on the "View/Delete" files link. 5) Sign in, and locate the file you want in your post body. 6) Right click on it and select Properties to get the URL of the picture. For example, the URL of the screen grab I uploaded is 216.37.9.58/ubb/uploads/Ray+Garrison/myscreen.jpg (note that I cut the Ach Tee Tee Pee Colon Slash Slash header off the front of the IP address so it wouldn't convert the string into a link in this post.) Cut and paste the URL you see in the picture's Properties box into the body of your post where you want the picture to appear. 7) If you don't want the link to the photo to appear on the right hand border of your post, in addition to the picture appearing in the post body, delete the text file name in the attachment box prior to clicking Submin Reply. Works for me. Justin - "Wide Format Screen"? Uh, no, not really... It's a regular aspect ratio (4:3) Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2020u, I run it at 1800 X 1440 so I can get maximum desktop surface area for database design work. (and viewing Klipsch Forum Posts ) By the way, None of the posts I've seen in any forum cause any problems at all - nothing resizes or goes off screen or scrolls or whatever (horizonally). I'm using IE 6.0.2600 with View Text Size set to Smaller. HornEd
See Boa... it's easy to do! Even with someone else's pic! If you click on the edit button on THIS post you will be able to see how you could have displayed your photo in your post. The IMG between brackets alerts the Klipsch server to find a photo... the /IMG between brackets says stop looking and return to the next text. The http://216.37.9.58/ubb/uploads/boa12/ portion looks in your space on the Klipsch server for a photo named P2070002.jpg (Yes, the same technique can be used for the smilies) So now all you have to do is delete and upload your .jpg photos... paste in the text that points to your place in the server and type in the name of the photo in the appropriate place. Don't forget to delete the ##########.txt reference in the Attachment box because it is not needed... and only puts the little camera icon in the upper right hand corner to fetch the image. Hope this helps... -HornEd This message has been edited by HornEd on 04-04-2002 at 02:56 PM

Ray Garrison
Boa, yes, you need the characters h t t p : / / (no spaces, of course) in front of the URL. Right click on any of the pictures appearing in the thread and you'll see what I mean. ------------------ Music is art Audio is engineering Ray's Music System

HornEd
Boa, I edited my above post to show you how while you were posting the question. Please read my above post again. Of course Ray is right on the money, that's how I got your picture to show up on my post. Notice how Ray put a <IMG> instead of using the proper brackets? The reason is if Ray put IMG between the brackets, the server would not display the command... and start looking for a photo... and you wouldn't see the command line text. Clipped and Shorn is now using this technique to display his altered graphics. Once again, it is HornEd going by what works instead of by the book. Hope it doesn't upset anyone. -HornEd PS: My signature is a jpg photo that includes an old shot of my HT system with the text rasterized in the photo... as done in PhotoShop. I use the same "pointer" technique in my signature profile as I do in the body of this text. If you click on the edit button of this post... the truth shall be revealed! ------------------ Photo update soon! -HornEd
HornEd
Yes, Boa, once you have the link you must place it between the UBB code to execute the link and display the image found. Then you must enter the UBB code to stop looking for the image. If no image is found, then it will display a white box with a red "x" in it. The problem is that if the code is printed to be text, the Klipsch server will interpret it as a command. So, what I will do is insert a (hopefully) non-command letter in the sequence... like "B" for Boa... and hopefully you can type the commands without the "B"... type the link... and then type the second command without the "B". Here's the "B" format: Put the link here. Remember, you only have six photo slots that are available. When you delete your image called P2070002.jpg from your space in the Klipsch server than the posts that Clipped and Shorn and I have made with your photo will be changed... and only show the white box with the red "x" that means... Sorry, earthlings, I can't find that photo in Boa's file. Don't get all coiled up over it Boa... you are on the threshold of greatness! -HornEd
boa12
ed, u mean delete it on my hard drive? i deleted it in the edit=>view files & the pic is still showing up on all posts. also i just used & & it still worked w/ no B. i'm really learning the ropes here. thanks! ------------------ My Home Systems Page
HornEd
No, Boa, to the Klipsch server, it doesn't matter if you delete it on your own hard drive or not! You have to delete it on the Klipsch Server hard drive. Since your photo is appearing in Clipped & Shorn's post and in mine too... it means that you did not delete it from your allotted file space on the Klipsch server hard disk. A common problem is when you click the box on the View/Delete files screen you forget to complete the white boxes that call for your Boa12 and Password entries... you push delete... but the files are not truly deleted. Just enter and then your text of your link and then and it should work for you... as it did for Clipped and Shorn. Once you understand the concept of the basic phrase to fetch and display your photos... then all you have to do is insert the phrase and correct it to retrieve the name of the desired photo that you have uploaded to Klipsch. -HornEd This message has been edited by HornEd on 04-04-2002 at 03:59 PM
