Rivernuggets
Recently purchased a Belle with a dead tweeter. The voice coil is separating slightly. There doesn't appear to be any break in the connection. Is this kaput? If this is the reason for a silent tweeter, is there a way to repair this? Rather not buy a new diaphragm. I'd like to get the speaker playable before any changes.
Rivernuggets
Here's another angle. Sorry for the blur.
djk
Est kaput! Is the magnet gap even all around?
Rivernuggets
Looking at the magnet gap with a naked eye, yes. Even. Is it really kaput? Oy gevalt! So what are we talking here. Purchase a new diaphragm? There are many available from two sellers on Ebay for $24 shipped. Here is one. Maybe these are the ones Crites didn't like......? Ironsave
RNuggets, I recently bought 2 from Simply Speakers. http://www.simplyspeakers.com/klipsch-replacement-speaker-diaphragm-k77-89486a.html I have not installed them; but I am betting there is a better chance of warranty than Ebay. Also, towards the bottom; there is a 13 min. video of how to replace the diaphragm properly.... Good Luck. (FWIW; Bob stated he did not see how it was possible these were available; I get he has been around this for a LONG TIME.... But these are claimed by SS to be by EV).... djk
They are probably not EV parts. The genuine EV part has a date hand-written on the back side of the diaphragm, as well as a polarity dot.
