CIGARBUM
Is there any special needs of stored audio equipment, mainly amps/pre amps/recievers. Do you have to walk them around the block once a year, pet the occasionally or just stare and admire them every time you walk by. I just have mine on shelves and covered up to keep dust out. Information will be appreciated. Cigarbum
Guest " "
You will need a variac. Vintiage equipment that has not been used in over 30 days should be brought up to power slowly.
gnatnoop
i think you have it covered, so to speak. indoors in temp and humidity controlled environment, covered from dust, you should be good. the only caveat, is that i've heard of mice getting in and around avr's, in fact, a buddy just trashed an avr that was in a closet, rear channels quit working. repair tech said mice droppings and probably urine had corroded various electrical pat connections and that unit was a fire hazard and should not be used without repair, repair estimate was almost $300 for a unit not costing much more than that. so, maybe box it up also would be my only advice. CIGARBUM
All equipment is in excellant condition and all recently restored and working perfectly. As for the mice, I got two big ol cats that don't pee on anything and dojn't scratch anything, justt eat mice and other critters. Boxx
Always remember that "stored equipment" can neither add, nor subtract.... it can only multiply. Be cautious my friend....

You should get in touch with Craig NOSValves re storing and reactivating amplifiers and maybe other electronics as well. Also, take a look at p. 4 of this recent thread, Looking for tube amp suggestions for Khorns. I'd posted that my tube amps hadn't sounded good after not being used for a long time. To my surprise, they'd only started sounding good after playing for several hours. See Craig's comment explaining this, and that they should be fired up once a month. See his added posts for details.
