synergyfreak
now that i have some left over income tax money, was looking at upgrading sub, have the rf-62 system with rb-61 rears and rs-52's as my side 7.1 surrounds. Have had the sub-12 for almost 4 yrs was a great sub when I had satellite's, the rw-12 matches my system but doesnt seem like a upgrade from the sub-12. I have narrowed down to hsu, epiq, and svs subs which seem plenty powerful. Even the sw-310 seems like the match upgrade since the rw-12 isn't made anymore. I recently also upgraded to the new elite 7.1 3d receiver; to match my 58 vt25 3d tv.

psg
I have narrowed down to hsu, epiq, and svs subs which seem plenty powerful. The upgrade depends on the models within each of those brand. They all make good-value subs so you are off to a good start. I had the Hsu STF-3 which on paper compares well with your Sub-12, making the Sub-12 decent value as well. If you get a VTF-15H, then yeah that would be an upgrade!
synergyfreak
thanks thats one of the sub i was looking at the vtf-15h, thought the uls-15 would be overkill.
psg
I have nothing against overkill, but at some point the system has to balance out a bit.
synergyfreak
Yeah i really read some more on the htf-15, and really like the ported style subwoofer, which seems to be the way to get more output. Plus after reading more and more about subs similiar to mine going out, cant believe my sub-12 has lasted as long as it has.
nezff
Dont forget about Elemental Designs, which IMHO has better bang for the buck than HSU or SVS. I got two subs for the price of one SVS pb
synergyfreak
thanks i did take a look st ed, seems like a very good deal since im really considering running two subs, in my new setup.
JasonJCarney
I agree with nezff. I too bought my subs from eD. Same 2 subs Nezff bought. $1400 shipped for 2 500 watt rms 15 inch subs. They are super heavy too and feel like great quality. Couldn't be happier. I was coming from a synergy sub-12 as well. I liked the sub 12 and honestly thought about getting a second sub 12 before eventually going to the eD subs.
synergyfreak
also my local dealer carries bowers and wilkins, listened to for a demo the other day, didnt sound bad for 200 watt sub, really like the ed subs just have never ordered from an internet direct company, from what i have heard its the best bang for your buck. synergyfreak
yeah very nice deal also noticed their sealed enclosure subs are out of stock until june is there a difference between the ported enclosure and sealed, always heard you can get more output from a ported enclosure. nezff
Hey synergy, go here. I ran some test a while back in my room using test tones to see the differences between ported and nonported. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=20099600#post20099600
synergyfreak
very good ready, noticeable bigger difference with ported, vs. non ported, just curious because my current sub is ported. The only subs im running that are sealed are my digital designs 10's for car audio in my truck, lol
synergyfreak
which i love and is really what im looking for in a home audio sub, one that is fast and tight and can keep up with whatever music or movie soundtrack, as my dd subs in my truck can do.
