JasonJCarney
Does the type of processing in an avr greatly affect the video output of cable and BD? I will be using hdmi only so component upscaling and DVD upscaling mean nothing to me. I only watch hd cable and BD's and some computer gaming. Will say an onkyo nr3008 make the video look better than an onkyo nr708? Thanks
willland
Does the type of processing in an avr greatly affect the video output of cable and BD? Jason, The better video processing chips(ABT2010, Reon HQV, etc.) will offer a noticeable improvement in standard definition TV broadcasts and SD DVD players. If your BD player does well with upscaling DVD's and you only watch HD cable, you can set the receiver to video pass-through and not implement its upscaling feature. Double processing can actually degrade the signal in some instances. Bill
