robi
Hi guys, sorry for my bad american, I'm writing from Italy. I've already built a pair of Cornscalas (see : http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/125302.aspx if interested..). Now I'm looking for a pair of Klipschorn for another house. I've watched a pair having the following datas: Type KCFR Serial Number right 4K462 Serial Number left 4K318 I searched the following informations: KC = no collar (What is means??? It's a good specification???) FR = fir raw (It's correct??? It's a good specification???) K = year production 1972, not sequencial numbers. (It's correct???) The seller say that the woofers were upgrated to alnico klipsch woofer (he said "the best for klipschorn"). To better match those woofers to the rest of the speaker the old italian distributor replaced the old crossover with a crossover AK-3. Could you tell me if those modifications are good or bad???? I've to buy or wait a better opportunity??? Thank you a lot !!!

garyeanderson
These are KC-FR they had been painted church white and used in a church. The photos are of 2F672 and 2F673, I hope the Klipschorns are in good shape, these were a bit wet on the botto.

J M O N
Ciao e benvenuto! You could certainly refinish them to your own desire and make them look fantastic if you have desire (skills or money). Take a look at some of the posts where members have finished their Klipsch speakers and you will be amazed at some of the results (sorry, my Italian is limited). Groomlakearea51
Robi, See: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/103886.aspx for description of serial number codes, finishes, drivers, crossovers, etc. KC = no collar; no real plus or minus, per. se., but the KB's with the collar are more "decorative". Upgrade to Alnico? The woofers should be K-33's with a square magnet. If you can, you can pull the door on one of the bass bins and look inside. If they are not K-33's, then you should consider replacing the woofers with K-33's or Crites CW-1526's (BEC). The AK-3's are considered a very good (if not one of the best) crossovers for the K'horns. If the price is right for you, I'd buy them.
