trowsiva
How come everyone I hear uses software DVD decoders now instead of hardware decoders? It used to be that no one recommended software because the quality was bad and CPUs had trouble keeping up. Now I know the CPUs can handle it but is the quality just as good or better than hardware decoders? What exactly are the pros and cons of each? I already have a hardware decoder (Creative Dxr3) but I got PowerDVD for free with my 3d card. Should I switch to PowerDVD?
justin_tx_16
You don't really have a hardware decoder, that only puts out stereo analog out or 5.1 digital out. Hardware decoders sometimes sound better, but now-a-days the difference is very small, nearly no difference. software is cheaper. ------------------ -justin SoundWise Support A technical help site created by me and my fellow Klipschers I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 or for an RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150s>
rol1
Music DTS, AKA CD-DTS decoding in hardware is usually with $700 receivers. Now the software can, all 50 disks.
