SCOOTERDOG
Just bought 4 new DVD-A/DTS discs, Here are some comments. Don Henley - End of the Innocence DTS & DTS-ES With the first song recorded in DTS-ES 6.1 (The End of the Innocence) Excellent use of multi-channel recording. The vocals on this track tend to have airiness to them, like they are suspended in front of you but up higher. The back rear channel outputs a mixture of piano and sax, nicely mixed into the LR surrounds. The rest of the disc is in DTS 5.1 and is quite nice. Dobbie Brothers-The Captain and Me DVD Audio For as old as this album is I must admit I was quite pleased with the sound of this disc. Most of the DVD A Discs I have sound very, very good. Sometimes you come across a remix of an older recording that disappoints you. This was not the case with this one. Eric Johnson-Ah Via Musicom DVD Audio While I like Eric Johnson, this disc just has not hit me well yet. The recording is pretty good, although not as good as some of my others. Steve's Boogie has a good surround mix. but most of the time it seems as if they struggled with how to make it sound right using the 5.1 formats. With that said, I played the disc in the 2 channel mode. YES YES, Forget the multi-channel portion on this disc and listen to it in all its glory, in the 2-channel mode. The Eagles- Hotel California DVD-Audio This is a wonderful re-master of a classic album. The multi-channel recording is excellent. It as if this disc was one of the few older recordings that was meant for multi-channel sound. The title track, Hotel California is superb in the placement of all of the instruments in the right locations. Close your eyes on this track and be immersed in the sound...Awesome. Hope you guys enjoy the feedback on these discs ------------------ Denon AVR 3801 Onkyo M504 Power Amp driving the mains Techenique A-10 DVD Audio/Video Player Pioneer DVL-909 Laserdisc/Dvd Player Dish Network Dolby Digital Sat receiver Klipsch La Scala ( Mains) Klipsch RFC5 Center Klipsch RSS6 Surround Side Klipsch RSS .5 Back surround Klipsch KSW 12 Subwoofer
