rdw70
I was curious if there would be any sound issues with combining a pair of quintets(rear channel) and a pair of the synergy SB-1(front channel).
ShapeShifter
rdw70, The Klipsch recommended surrounds are the SS.5, with the the SC.5 as matching center. Although the rears are not quite as critical as the front array. The recommended match ups will assure you have good tone as sounds move from left to right especially up front and as they move from front to rear. You will likely find that the Quintets will require significantly more volume level to keep up with the more efficient SB-1's and SC.5 center. I would recommend going with the SS.5's at a minimum. There are some of us who are fans of matching rears to fronts as well. If you choose the Quints, ensure they can be returned if you're not pleased with their performance & sound. QUiKSR20
Quintet's are def not the best match for rears. But they do work And really arnt that bad. I for one personally havent heard SS1s for rears so maybe im missing more than i know but for my setup using the quintets for rears they sound good enough for me .. For now. I didnt have the money for ss1s but will upgrade to them soon when the funds are available. If you use quintets just raise the rear volume a little to balance it out. Thats what I did and it worked nice. Good luck with your choice. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects
rdw70
How about this for a set-up? KSC-C1 center channel, ss-.5 rear, sb-1 front, and Definitive Tech. Pro 200 sub? Is this a good combo? ShapeShifter
rdw70, Below are links that show Klipsch matches for the SC.5 and SC-1 Centers. The only true test is to evaluate both, then determine which one pleases you most. You may well find the SC-1 works best. However, if the SC.5 is not available, then the decision is far easier.
