Some help on building a Khorn copy.

Gary,

Thanks so much for the pictures-very helpful to see the original. It does seem like the originals were built in 1/2 ply throughout.

I think I am going to use 1/2" for all of the insides apart from the 2 identical horn folds that meet at the centre back of the cabinet.

The tops bottoms and sides of my Belles are 3/4" and I want the same on my build.

Thanks for all the help, any other suggestions would be most welcome,

Regards Simon

There is a wealth of info that has been provided by members and Klipsch to
this forum. This has to be one of the best places to ask and receive
information on products and their build. To be able to search effectively in
the archives of this forum will get you a long way into asking other questions
that will be useful. Please take a look at some of these that were found by the
search engine.

I culled these from the first page, I am not building but I love the
design and wish I had the skill to think that I could start a project like
this.

have a look at these

If you have questions the answers are likely to be here, and if not
some one will probably be able to provide answers to them.

There are many plans of much of the Klipsch Heritage line up on the internet;
your job is to figure out what is good and what is trash.

thanks Gary

lots of useful info. But does anyone out there have some demensions of the original , such as the front panel , side panels and the width of the motor boad as this would sure help to determine which plan to follow.I did some measurements in one of the links. I will check my drawings tonight.I have the speaker lab plans and the 2 German ones. The speaker lab plans do differ from the metric counter parts.

thanks for the help

Yes, there is a lot of information and numerous plans. That
makes it difficult to nail something down solid. That the one reason I say get
a bin, any bin, buy a couple and sell them when you’re done. I didn't have Klipsch
La Scala when I built my heavyweight clone, it got to be about 60% done and I
said "oh, is that what they look like". I had the Klipsch Cornwalls
when I built clones with some changes, it was nice to see what was done and
think about if I wanted it the same. Get a rat pair like I did, a sheet over
the top and put a lamp on top, sweet. Then
you can listen to them as you build and see just how much you like them. When
you are finished you can play one klipsch against clone back to back and know
you have done well instead of guessing like I have with the heavyweight lascala
clone.

I look forward to your build. I have the Jamboree plans also and just haven't built them yet. I was going to try and build the Khorns but after seeing so many complex angles I decided to hold off. After I reread the Myjubs website I really wanted to build some jubs and then realized I still had the Jamboree plans from a while ago.

SO hopefully for you wood is cheaper than it is for me because I saw that it was going to cost me about 900 for the pair of Jamboree's to be built. But that is all 18mm so hopefully it will be cheaper for you and your Khorn thread will start having to pictures to gawk at.[:D]

Hi Simon

Hows the new drawing coming along? Did you find any significant differences in the various plans? Hope you have not given up and that really get to build these clones.
