simonms
...May I add that a sheet or two of timber in getting to grips with such a great design is a lot less than a term at Uni these days so money well spent.
simonms
LarryC-Wow what a great read! So nothing at all in between driver and chamber, just directly mountedonto 1/2" ply...if I understand correctly. Thanks a lot Si
LarryC
Si, that is correct. Screwed directly into the wood, as I couldn't maneuver in the T-nuts.
garyeanderson
Sides, tail board, tops, and bottom are 1/2 inch, look at the screw pattern on the sides going into the 1/2 inch pluwood that the horns are formed by. Some are driven in at anges to max screw holding without splitting. there is no room for much error.

simonms
Gary, Thanks so much for the pictures-very helpful to see the original. It does seem like the originals were built in 1/2 ply throughout. I think I am going to use 1/2" for all of the insides apart from the 2 identical horn folds that meet at the centre back of the cabinet. The tops bottoms and sides of my Belles are 3/4" and I want the same on my build. Thanks for all the help, any other suggestions would be most welcome, Regards Simon

garyeanderson
There is a wealth of info that has been provided by members and Klipsch tothis forum. This has to be one of the best places to ask and receiveinformation on products and their build. To be able to search effectively inthe archives of this forum will get you a long way into asking other questionsthat will be useful. Please take a look at some of these that were found by thesearch engine. http://forums.klipsch.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=Khorn+AND+plans+AND+sectionid%3a6&o=Relevance&PageIndex=2 I culled these from the first page, I am not building but I love thedesign and wish I had the skill to think that I could start a project likethis. have a look at these http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/47195/446051.aspx#446051 http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/34874.aspx?PageIndex=1 http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/12976/97320.aspx#97320 HBRDbuilder talks of tolerance of the dimensions of 1/64 inch that’s .4mm http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/126852/1282592.aspx#1282592 Sheet material thickness discussion If you have questions the answers are likely to be here, and if notsome one will probably be able to provide answers to them. There are many plans of much of the Klipsch Heritage line up on the internet;your job is to figure out what is good and what is trash. woodychips
thanks Gary lots of useful info. But does anyone out there have some demensions of the original , such as the front panel , side panels and the width of the motor boad as this would sure help to determine which plan to follow.I did some measurements in one of the links. I will check my drawings tonight.I have the speaker lab plans and the 2 German ones. The speaker lab plans do differ from the metric counter parts. thanks for the help Woody
garyeanderson
Yes, there is a lot of information and numerous plans. Thatmakes it difficult to nail something down solid. That the one reason I say geta bin, any bin, buy a couple and sell them when you’re done. I didn't have KlipschLa Scala when I built my heavyweight clone, it got to be about 60% done and Isaid "oh, is that what they look like". I had the Klipsch Cornwallswhen I built clones with some changes, it was nice to see what was done andthink about if I wanted it the same. Get a rat pair like I did, a sheet overthe top and put a lamp on top, sweet. Thenyou can listen to them as you build and see just how much you like them. Whenyou are finished you can play one klipsch against clone back to back and knowyou have done well instead of guessing like I have with the heavyweight lascalaclone. simonms
Gary-thanks so much again for the advice. I know have 5 plans and they are all very similar give or take a few mm. I would love to have a pair to work from but they don't come up often in the UK hence asvice needed-i/m off to a mates to start CAD drawings now and will post when fin. chrapladm
I look forward to your build. I have the Jamboree plans also and just haven't built them yet. I was going to try and build the Khorns but after seeing so many complex angles I decided to hold off. After I reread the Myjubs website I really wanted to build some jubs and then realized I still had the Jamboree plans from a while ago. SO hopefully for you wood is cheaper than it is for me because I saw that it was going to cost me about 900 for the pair of Jamboree's to be built. But that is all 18mm so hopefully it will be cheaper for you and your Khorn thread will start having to pictures to gawk at.[]
