I am just wondering if my new receiver can handle 7.1 Yamaha RX-A1000 Two RF-62 II Floorstanding One RC-62 II Center Two RS-52 II Surrounds One SW-310 Subwoofer Adding RB-51 II Bookshelf Speakers for 7.1 Rear Any thoughts? Thanks

Bartenderck,

Welcome to the forum.

Your Yamaha should handle 7.1 just fine. Adding the RB-51II's will only enhance your incredibly matched great sounding system. Your Yamaha is equipped with preouts so you could add an amp later if you long for more, or a second SW-310 if the bass bug bites.

Your avr will be fine. If you have the need to go extra loud (maybe your room is big or something) you can add an external amp down the road. I would get the rb51ii's for my rear surround if I was you. I just recently got a pair as my side surrounds and am loving them. perfect size for my room. IMO the rear surround speakers (no matter what you choose) does add a little something to the experience. The new Transformers has 7.1 sound and AVS forum gave that movie 100/100 score! You don't even have to get crazy wth an external amp either. There are planty of used items on the market that can be had for $100 or less and give you some extra boost for your system. But see how you like your Yammy first. My bet is you won't be disappointed.
