The UMC-1 is just too complicated for some users. It is not a plug and play. I read all the bad press on the internet before I purchased. How much of it are people who never owned a UMC-1. How many that where self inflected. And just like on this form how one Klipsch speaker is better than another Klipsch speaker ??? I am sure some user really had issues, but really how many.I am not one.

So this is what I see good or bad a lot of passion either way, EMO is all over the Internet ,a lot to be said about that .

Ok I am just rambling now .And no I am not trying to convert anybody.I just look a things a little differently then others.

This prepro will not be for everyone. If it is like their other products it will aimed at those more concerned with overall audio performance.

....and those that don't mind constant connectivity issues. lol

but to be fair about the price emtiva gave away those 40% off upgrade cards to all UMC-1 buyers so really the vast majority of the XMC's they sell will be for $900 not $1500. It's my belief that those cards ar the reason the xmc is at the $1500 price point. Cause the features do not point towards a $1500 pre pro. (1 HDMI our and 7 vice 9 channels)

Did you have connectivity issues with your UMC?

I've had my UMC over two years, and never any "connectivity" issues with ten different hdmi components. The amount of channels I'm sure impresses some people?? that's fine for them.Again, audio quality is the driving factor for a substantial number of enthusiast, but not all.Who knows, the thing may sound like crap, if it does I'll be one of the first to say so.

That's great that you never had connection issues. But don't try to down play that the issues were present for others. It's all over the Internet.

What are typin' about? play down? You still did not say you owned one? Oh...you read stuff, I see. Please show me one unit in the whole internet that has no complaints from anyone and I'll buy you a dvd of your choice.

I said I did not have any connection issues, that's playin' it down?,lol.I did not know it was all over the internet, we all know the internet is always reliable, again lol.Anywho...rock on, enjoy the beautiful music.

I apoligize for offending you FISH. That was not my intention. I do not own a UMC-1. I have considered it and in that consideration spent many hours reseaching it. Im not comparing the UMC-1 to other units with my previous post. I was simply pointing out one issue of the many the UMC-1 has had.

For those with further intrest on the seemingly painstaking process of "fixing" the UMC-1... here is a link to a thread by Big Dan himself. Remember these are not random internet trolls on this thread.... it's Dan Laufman President of Emotiva.

Not trying to stir the pot but you have to look at the reality of things. Google this "Onkyo Recall" and you'll be reading a lot about all the issues with Onkyo and it's "connectivity issues" via HDMI and all kinds of other problems. Here is their site, more issues than you would have imagined. http://onkyoproductsupport.forumotion.com/f1-welcome-to-the-onkyo-forum

I have two UMCs and I don't have any issues. They are in a league of their own at their price point IMHO.

They finally put the XMC-1 on the website. Still not available yet but you can pre-order. I can't wait to read some reviews on this processor. So....who will be the first to get one?

I'll be one of the first to get one =) I got an e-mail a few days ago confirming I'm on the original pre order list from ~4 years ago. Also have my 40% card waiting...
