wtrmn
Have an immaculate set of Forte's and they recently started to rattle when albumns recorded with lots of bass. Played with SX-950 and never over half. They will do it even on low volume. I can put a wedge in the groove between back panel and cabinet and it quiets down. Do not want to disassemble unnecessarily but need suggestions. Thanks, Steve
mustang guy
It sounds like you answered your own question. The back is rattling. Am I missing something? There is nothing to fear in taking the back off, and I assume you tried tightening the screws.
djk
No screws there, must be a cracked glue joint.
wtrmn
Yea, u r right about no screws, will look into that when I return home next month, thanks
pzannucci
If the crack is that accessible, lay the speaker on each side and thin some titebond / titebond II glue with a little water (usually like 10-20% should do) and pour it into the groove. It will take a few times of doing it though it will fill the joints and glue the side back on. Do all the sides. It will take a little time but the best part is you don't need to tear the speaker apart and you will neve know it is there once you are done. mustang guy
All the LS's are in the same room, but its a big room! That will be a helluva game room!
P-Gavin
I agree with peter-z..tite bond glue should fix the problem..its good glue..i use it to build cabinets with "but" be carefull not to allow the glue to pass through the seam and into the cabinet. may end up with a mess.
