RonW.
BEC's or ALK's Crossover, which one would you use in a set of '87 Cornwall II's and why? I'm trying to figure this out to replace the following; Thanks, RonW.
PrestonTom
I am a very thrifty sort of guy. So I would simply refresh the capacitors and leave well-enough alone. If I wanted to get fancy, then I would bypass the caps with metal film caps about 1% the value of the main cap. Perhaps Solen and Dayton caps (search the various threads). All this can be done for about $25.
Guest " "
I would add polycarbonate caps as bypass caps........at about 2.5% of the value of the original cap.
Johnny's Jill
No question, I would go ALK CornscalaWall crossover. Its really a no brainer, adjustable mid and tweeter, constant inpedence and quality parts. Craig
Daddy Dee
My first choice would be to simply recap the crossover with fresh caps. This is the most economical solution and the way to most closely return the speakers to factory spec. Bob Crites can help you with this. If you're not happy with the sound of your speakers then, spend the bucks and get ALK crossovers.
