mburgess
I have a lead on some late 70s, early 80s La Scala Industrials. The pictures show pretty bad shape on the outside, but the seller says they function perfectly. Seller is asking $500. What do these usually go for? I'm fairly familiar with value of La Scala, but didn't know how Industrial effects value. Thanks, Matt
Guest " "
metal trim ones are worth a couple hundred more than plain corners. fiberglass coated is worth a few hundred more than painted.
mburgess
Interesting. Was carpeted ever an option? If not, someone must have done it themselves. Thanks for the info - it is a bit of a drive to check these out so I wanted to see if it was worth it before making the trip.
hugeroost
whichever finish their for sure worth that nickel, they dont come up very often either, for every set of those 100 sets of the regular ones comes up, the carpet would concern me though Roost
Guest " "
no on the carpeting. if all you see is carpeting with no metal trim....doubt that they are industrials....check the speaker connection plates...they should be plastic with 5 way bindiing post and kilipsch logo'ed with industrial or professional in white letters. tigerwoodKhorns
What are you using them for? If they are for your living room it does not matter what the extras are worth, do you want metal trim and handles or carpeting on speakers in your living room? If you are using for industrial, then by all means check them out.
mburgess
They will be for the basement. I have a pair of CornScalas I built that are in the living room. Ultimately, the exterior condition isn't terribly important to me. So, let me rephrase my original question: Is $500 a good value for a pair of any type of La Scalas that are rough exterior but function fine? moray james
do you think that $500.00 is too much for a good condition pair of LaScala? I don't need or want a pair but I would bevery tempted by a pair for that price in driving distance. Go go go gadget go. Best regards Moray James. hugeroost
MJ 500 bucks for la scala"s is a smokin deal man, even in rough shape Roost
mburgess
Thanks, guys! I picked them up yesterday. They aren't in as bad condition as I thought based on the pics from the seller. Someone took standard LaScalas and turned them into gigging PA speakers. They covered them in carpet and put corner guards on. I have posted some pics in this thread: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/170092.aspx
