TheDuddler
I've recently got into building my own computer and all that is missing were speakers to get the most out of my new Creative Labs Soundblaster F4tality 3D R3CON 7.1 sound card. I've heard a lot of great things on Klipschs 2.1 speakers but I've also heard a lot of other people saying theres a ton of defects on this product. One being the wires coming from the amp or speaker outages / things melting a week or so out of the box and that you would be lucky to get a product that works for more then a month. I was just wondering if they have fixed any of these issues or if they are still happening because at 179.99 they are a good deal compared to other speakers that are upwards of 300-500$ just for 2.1 or 5.1 speakers. Just wanted to hear some thoughts from people on the forums here to see if they have had a lot of problems with these and if they are even fixable. DrWho
I've never heard of any problems with the 2.1 speakers - I keep on buying them for various inexpensive applications. The 5.1 speakers would have the occasional amplifier problem - not sure what the deal is there.
DizRotus
I've enjoyed mine daily since Santa left them under the tree. The near-field sound while working at my computer is almost like a great pair of headphones.
Mighty Favog
The only thing I'd like to do to mine is to slow down the volume increase slope while running a unity gain from the computer. A long time ago I found a paper on how to do this on an old but very useable Carver C-1 preamplifier. All it needed was to swap out about six resistors.
