Seb
Ears, tell me about that failing Energy sub story... Are you talking about the ES-18XL? It seems like that model wasn't on the market for more than like 1-2 years, which is a shame, because apparently it was a killer sub... ------------------ http://members.fortunecity.com/sebdavid - go laugh at my crappy website/equipment http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mc.asp?alias=Sebdavid - go laugh at my puny little DVD collection
TheEAR
Seb, It was not the 18XL sub,as the 18XL did not sell to well and was a huge sub(plenty of MDF required for the 120lbs cabinet). The 18XL used the same 400W switching amp as their bipolar 12" subs.No amp or driver problems. The faulty units are(were) the Microstar 10 and 12. Both units problems were with the amp(a la Bob Carver copies?).When pushed the units had a nasty clipping and very audible one.Of course the stores had to blame the shipping damage(yeah right, over and over RIIIGGGGHHHTTTT). Same story with the Mirage SubStrata 1000 and 1500 subwoofers. The SubStrata 1500 was an almost copy of the Sunfire Mark II sub.A few changes left and right and voila...a new sub. Even Paradigm had two units(I saw the pics and details)planned, the BassCube series.A 10 and 12" units were in the works, using the popular switching power amps. The sad part is the Servo-25 a real contedner to the large Velodyne HGS never apeared on the market.I belive the cause is the power amp again,a Paradigm rep told me they had a few bugs with the driver's voice coil overheating(I think its BS,Velodyne,Sunfire and Revel all make drivers capable of taking huge wattage and continued abuse and dont have overheating issues) TheEAR(s) Now theears
Seb
thanks. I'll try contacting my Energy rep to see if he doesn't have one of those 18XL beast left somewhere... I'd be interested to pick one of those up! ------------------ http://members.fortunecity.com/sebdavid - go laugh at my crappy website/equipment http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mc.asp?alias=Sebdavid - go laugh at my puny little DVD collection

AKAAMIT
Well do you guys live in ontario, near toronto. I live in brampton, and there 2 different places, both about 15 minutes away from me who can order them, but don't stock them. Anyways make sure you say someother (any other paradigm dealer) said he would give it to you at that price, BUT could not get it for about 4 weeks. That's what i did, and got it ordered for 660.00 over the phone. Peace, and good luck!
