wuzzzer
Last night I finally re-installed the tweeter and midrange diaphragms into my Fortes. I used to have the titanium mid and tweet in them and then swapped them into my new Chorus. I was installing the Chorus mid and tweet diaphragms into the Fortes and just before I slid one of the midrange diaphragms onto the magnet I spied a little piece of metal inside the gap where the voice coil would be pressed in to. Luckily enough of it was sticking out that I was able to remove it with a needlenose pliers. Holy crap - that thing what have completely destroyed the diaphragm! Definitely a good reason to clean that area out when replacing or changing diaphragms. I believe it is recommended to physically inspect the gap to make sure nothing's in there and then use the sticky part of a post-it note to scrape around inside it. wuzzzer
Yep. It wouldn't have been the end of the world to replace the diaphragm but I'm glad I didn't have to.
