trailblazers75
I would like to buy a pair of black or darker wood quartets, fortes, or chorus. I live in the Portland OR area but will drive up to 300 miles if I have to or maybe more for the right deal. thanks
opusk2k9
If you have a bit more room you should consider some La Scala, these are about 300 miles from you: http://medford.craigslist.org/ele/3980494889.html Good luck with your search. trailblazers75
I wish I could but I don't have the room:(
opusk2k9
The La Scala is only 5.5" wider than the Chorus (II), but about 9" deeper. The Chorus (like the La Scala) is front ported, so it is easier to position. The Chorus II has a 15" passive radiator on the back so it will need to sit off the wall a bit (like the Quartet and Forte). CL didn't have any Quartet, Forte, or Chorus in OR or WA. You might also consider a KLF-20 or KLF-30, they are rear ported, so they will need to be off the wall a bit.
trailblazers75
I wouldn't mind a klf 20 or 30 but for the price is have to pay I would rather have a forte or chorus...
moray james
Quartet, Forte ll and Chorus ll all use the same horn/driver for the mid and I consider it a big improvement over a K701 used in the Forte and Chorus. Pull the tweeter off of the baffle and fit a cover plate to seal the cabinet then place the tweeter on top of the cabinet and align the centre of the top plates (mid and tweeter). The improvement in phase response will astound you from this almost free and stupidly simple modification. Happy hunting. Lots of other mods you can do with any of these speakers. Best regards Moray James.
opusk2k9
Depends on the deal you find. You might also be happy with this: CF-3http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ele/3993914063.html The KG 5.5 basically the same as the KLF-10, but front ported: http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/ele/3966028702.html Either would be a good purchase until the right pair of Chorus or Forte come along. I had a pair of KG 5.5, very good bass punch, but this deal also comes with a SW. Moray James will tell you how much he likes the Klipsch Epic series.
