snailtrax
I want to use a Carver M1.0t 350 WPC and an Ipod for outside party music and occasional garage use. Speakers will be either Lascala or KP 320 or CF3 . Depending on mood. I have been told I need to use a preamp between the Ipod and the Carver amp. What can I use that won't break the bank? Used is an option. I don't want to spend a fortune. Thanks, Bill
tube fanatic
Depending on how loudly you want the system to play, you may not need a preamp at all. Why not connect the audio output of the Ipod directly to the amp, slowly increase the volume level, and see if it's sufficient? Maynard I've done that many times, in fact I have my son's fraternity set up with a pro amp and a pair of LaScalas. The pro amp has gain knobs which allows a balancing. There is a good bit of power coming from an iphone's headphone jack.
snailtrax
I'll try it like that, thanks. Bill
consistent
If you are using Lascalas you wont need a pre. Make sure the pod docking station/pad has L & R RCA output plugs then you can plug into you amp and use the pods volume control
