willum24
Just curious to see if anyone had used front wide speakers before. I have a 2.2 rf82 II system at the moment, but I'm going to purchase another pair of the same towers. I currently do not have the space to make them surrounds, but wonder what I might gain using them as front wides. Thanks for any input. willum24
Or would it be better to run them in parallel with my emotiva xpa 2?
Scrappydue
Or would it be better to run them in parallel with my emotiva xpa 2?that would hack up the impedance load and rob all your power and only worsen things. If you don't mind me asking. Why would you wanna do wides, if you don't even have a center or surrounds? That seems like a huge waste of money to me as wides are a matrices channel anyways. I'd thing the money would be better spent on a rc-62ii and some rs-52ii's. my twelve cents of course.
Scrappydue
Actually I take that back technically two 8 ohms loads in parallel would equal 4 ohms but you would be feeding them the same signal then you'd start running into cancellation issues of having side by side speakers
willum24
My end goal is to have towers all the way around, and I just don't have the space for them to act as surrounds at the moment. Too good a deal to pass up, and I hate the idea of them boxed up.

Yeah it would work fine , what AVR do you run ? as you might not have to do the wiring like that if AVR is ony pushing 2 speakers & the amp the other
McMiRA
I have kg 5.5 as wides, fronts, and centers. Sounds great. I'm sure rfs would sound even better. I have the same goal, 11 identical towers

willum24
Well, I go pick up the speakers tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out how it sounds when I get them hooked up!
