Divelaster
Hi, With Christmas coming soon my son (a freshman in college) asked for some electronics for gifts. One of the first things was a new wifi card for his laptop that has frequencies in the 5 Gig range. It seems that the 2.4 Gig range in his dorm is so overloaded they run real slow. The next thing on his list is a set of computer speakers with a sub-woofer, preferably wireless. Guess what, that's right 2.4 Gig is the normal frequency for these. Is there anyone that makes a five Gig set of wireless computer speakers? Want dynamic room-filling sound from your laptop or notebook without any wires tying you down? Marvel
The laptop should easily do both frequencies. I think you will find the larger problem being that the laptop can't be connected directly to the speakers over wireless while also on the 'campus network'. It's a problem the students at our school have when they want to put their new printers on the school's network so they can browse AND print. We will do that for them, but tell them it's up to them to set the security so the whole floor of their dorm won't be printing to their printer. Unless you are talking Bluetooth for wireless... Personally, dorm rooms aren't so large that you couldn't run the wires. My son's room wasn't very large, and he had an H/K 430 and some JBL L36 speakers. He still has them, eight years later.
