I HATE UPS

Have you considered getting your own ups or fedex account? Typical savings of 30-50% of what shippers such as the ups store charge to "process". Not dealing with an additonal party is another bonus.

That's what I did a long time ago.  Seems to be cheaper with heavier items.  Light items, I use USPS.  Have great success with Fedex so far.  Drop it off at a local Pack and Ship place with no problems.

I was a professional packer at one time in my life. I was trained by professionals, and also trained by Allied Van Lines to be certified. It is interesting how some people pack things thinking they are making them more secure. They sure spend the time on them!  There is only one best way to do anything. "Labeling This Side Up", Do Not Stack" and "Top Load Only" doesn't hurt, but it isn't all you need to do. What I am getting at is that packing is a skill. A box and some tape does not a packer make. We wouldn't let a packer do a kitchen until they had a full 2 years experience. That is working every business day for 2 years.

Packing technology has improved a good bit since the 70's, but some things are the same. Pack for the worst case scenario.
