theryugo
I just got an Adcom GFA 545II amp on eBay for $217.51, and it has improved my system dramatically. My KG5.2s are transformed! Clarity, depth, and soundstage are excellent-- I've got a question, though-- We are building a new home, and the best speaker positions for the sound room will require that one speaker's wiring will require more than 40 feet of wire, and the other will be right next to the system, so there will be a big difference in the wiring runs. I've already wired the long run, and I've used the thickest and most expensive wire I could afford. But, is there going to be a problem with one speaker using 3 feet of wire and the other with over 40 feet of wire? Should I add alot more to the short run? Will fidelity be affected? mike stehr
How far do you have the speakers apart from each other?
jazman
theryugo, In the past, I have been told by numerous sources that one run of cable should not exceed more than 10% the length of the other. Klipsch out.
theryugo
The speakers will be about 13 feet apart, with stairs between them. The length comes from going up and down walls and around the staircase. This way they face the sofa at the right angles--I'll also have ceiling speakers above the corners of the sofa-- I'll use the 10 % rule of thumb--- Thanks
jazman
theryugo, Just to clarify, the not to exceed 10% is per pair of two speakers such as the left & right speaker in a 2 channel setup. Ideally have them equal length. Klipsch out.
