Zoef
Guys, need your opinions. Would this be a good driver for a 2 way cornscala? It states it goes to 25khz.......impedance is 8ohms... (ok with crossover? ) I am going to use a ap12 crossover and kappa 15c. For the horns i think eliptrac 400 is the best? Here the specs of the selenium: Sent with tapatalk from a lazy chair...... Zoef
Or would a Selenium d408ti do a better job? Sent with tapatalk from a lazy chair......
djk
"Or would a Selenium d408ti do a better job?" No. http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/specs/264-228-selenium-d3300ti-dpd-specifications-44073.pdf "It states it goes to 25khz" Only if you're using drugs. The plane-wave response is 20dB down around 12.8Khz, 30dB down at 20Khz. The response on the 14-50 horn looks better, but the dispersion looks like an ice-pick at 16Khz. The 10dB increase in distortion at 16Khz indicated the diaphragm is breaking up hard. The intermodulation distortion sidebands will be audible, the harmonic distortion will not. This is not a bad driver, just not great. The D3305Ti looks better, and is less money too. http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/specs/264-228--d330ti-dpd-spec-sheet.pdf Where do you live (what can you buy)? http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/specs/294-1023-faitalpro-hf146-8-specifications.pdf This is on an elliptical horn similar to the eliptrac 400, and would need an adaptor. Zoef
I live in the netherlands. .. so if i need drugs to make it sound right it would be less of a problem LOL (don't worry, i don't use any) I am just looking for the best drivers in a 2 way set up. Some drivers cost less than the shipping to the netherlands. So i need the best possible that are availeble in europe. Can be any brand. Sent with tapatalk from a lazy chair...... Guest David H
The B&C DE-85TN and B&C DE-750TN work well. The Faital Pro HF-200 is also a good candidate. I have not had much success with Selenium Dave
Guest David H
Europe audio in the Netherlands carries Beyma drivers, you may want to look into those as well. Although I have never used them, have heard some good feedback on them. Dave
Zoef
Of these 3, Is there a absolute best one? Or is it more a matter of taste Sent with tapatalk from a lazy chair......
Zoef
Great advise, will take a look at the beyma's Sent with tapatalk from a lazy chair......
Arash
it might be off topic but you live in Netherlands! go for Bert Dupenberg's Oris 150 horn with a good 8" it will cover ~200hz-20Khz. just add a woofer and you'll be almost there. but if you insist on compression drivers you'd better put your money on Faital Pro HF200 of 144 or maybe Radian 850Pb. the only Selenium driver I like to use is D405 as it could be crossed as low as BMS 4592 with a lower price tag. djk
The Beyma are a lot better than the B&C in the top octave. http://www.beyma.de/fileadmin/seiten/download/pdf/Beyma_professional/2007-M_rz-CP750Ti_1_.pdf http://www.beyma.com/uploads/ftp/Fichas_Tecnicas/000000657.PDF The Faital HF146 or HF144 with an adaptor, smoother in the top octave than the HF200. I own both the Faital HF146 and the Beyma CP755Nd, the Beyma is better, but at about twice the price. The ferrite version of the Beyma in 2" (CP750Ti) may be a good choice, it uses the same diaphragm and phase plug as the 1.4" version.
Zoef
The cp750ti is "recommended" by some to be used with the Iwata 300 horns. Never heard of them so i did a search, they look very nice... but we are not building for looks ofcourse. .. do you know them? If you do...do they sound any good?
