garyeanderson
I had some cabinet grade birch left over from the MWM build and needed to replace the tops of the KD-FR. The Klipschorns I bought as a pair of bass bins and were missing the HF and mid components. I picked those parts last spring and finally got around to top cabs. The Bass bins are fir raw but the fronts of the cabs are birch so that's what I went with. Anyway, the tops came out pretty well and I finished them with Minwax gloss brushable lacquer that I sprayed on with a HPLV gun. Not perfect but I am quite happy on how they turned out.

garyeanderson
I like those... like them alot. Great finish and color How much do you think those are worth? I haven't a clue as to the worth. There is about a full sheet of plywood that cost $75 (you can get it at Home Depot for $50) but I went to the local lumberyard and drove up to the stack of plywood and two of their employees loaded it into my pickup. I thought it was worth it to get two sheets that had not been pawed and picked over by potential customers. I probably have 3 or 4 morning into the project. I cut the 2 tops together and the 2 bottoms together with a sheet of junk Masonite on the top with a skill saw to prevent tear out. I used a T square clamped to all of the pieces to make the cuts straight, it was a bit of a pain to get right but I took my time. Next on the project list are the side grills but I need to get a sheet of half inch Baltic birch for that. I also need to lacquer the fronts of the bass bins too. When all of that gets done I may just sell them as I am out of corners (and other space).
garyeanderson
Well, It has been a little while since I started on trying to build up a working pair of Klipschorns. They are not there yet but progress had been mad. Yesterday was a nice spring like day here so after a couple days of reorganizing and cleaning I got the klipscorn bass bins outside to get a coat of lacquer on them. I had them stored as a stack to save floor space, I will admit that the bass bin seems to have gotten a wee bit heavier over the last few years. I had to bring it down in stages. The trip out side was uneventful
garyeanderson
I had about 3 cups of Lacquer left over from the last project and figured it would be enough to get a good coat or two on the bins. Almost dry
