Coytee
Hey guys so I am going to have an opportunity to buy some 1978 LaScalas .... wife saw them and is excited to have vintage looking wooden speakers instead of the giant black boxes that are my KG 5.5s. huh? Your wife is preferring the LaScala to a 'giant box' speaker?? Did you put a Voodoo hex on her or did she simply lose her glasses? I'll admit that I don't think I've ever seen a KG 5.5 in person so I don't know their size. I can't think they are larger than the LaScala though?? Actually, I think your comment is pretty cool!
psg
I always thought that the front of a La Scala was nicer to look at than a large plain speaker grille, what with the bass bin and all.

HaHa I actually bought a raw birch 1984 pair the guy had and marinated them in mineral oil for about an hour and a half and they look really nice. The La Scalas are about twice the size of the KGs but they are a natural wood color and have a cool retro look which she likes. On the other hand the KG 5.5's are black satin with black fabric so they were pretty much just two huge imposing black boxes in the room.
