Tactile Respone in the HT

A 20 Hz since wave was used for the next set of data.  The standardize frequency stayed at 75 db at 50 Hz for testing.  The close mic data is shown below.

Note: The port once again showed the greatest ouput, followed by the sealed and vented driver models.

The data was all taken in a close mic position of 1-2 in. from the driver or port.  This close mic data represents the native response of the subwoofer models without the influence of the room.  The port had the greatest output followed by the sealed vented driver models.  Sound intensity which includes particle velocity in the nearfield dominated in the various models.

This data can be used to help design a bass system for the HT.  Room size, subwoofer selection and placement are key factors in the TR for the HT.  A sealed bass system can take advantage of cabin gain is smaller rooms to reach a higher sound intensity level.  A very large number of sealed subs are need in larger rooms.

50 Hz is the center frequency that was used to calibrate the various models.  The chart goes from 15 Hz to 200 Hz which is the subwoofer band.  The 20 Hz sine wave was used because that frequency is near tuning.  This is where ULF start.  I hoped that makes things easier to understand.  Sorry for any confusion.
