I have been receiving feedback from the forum, have been doing a lot of research on the web and my selection has been narrowed down to the following:

Denon AVR-4802

Pioneer VSX 47TX

Here is where I hit a brickwall. I have been hearing various comments about the Pioneer VSX 47 TX shutting down when reference levels are reached or passed (appears that the pioneers protection circuit kicks in). To tell you the truth, up to this point I'm leaning more in favor of the pioneer but now it depends on this particular matter.

Has anybody in the forum had this problem or heard anything regarding it or could a similar situation happen with the denon ? I'm aware that there are different factors that have to be taken into consideration; speaker load, speaker efficiency, ventilation, etc.

Hearing more feedback on this issue will help me take the final step towards my purchase.

I don't know much about the current Pioneer stuff, but I can tell you that even pushed at hard levels my Denon (only 85 w/ch) has never shut down. Shutting down is not necessarily a bad thing if you are driving the amps into clipping, but with the efficiency of our Klipsch, I doubt it will be an issue. Is there a reason you are leaning towards the Pioneer over the Denon?
