The MDF could fail, veneer loosen, etc. And then I'd be the bad guy. Now you're the expert. Could you write up a bit more about what you did. Folks with similar problems will want to know. What do you make of the glue used originally? Was it hot melt glue? Please also report on what sort of glue you're using to seal it up. It seems to me I once read my la Scalas were built with animal glue and that when heated correctly, it was pretty thin and Uugely strong. However, with the back off, you can brush on any glue you want! Now, I really would add some small screws ro ensure the back is pulled up tight while the glue sets.
