Noggin
Hi guys, after collecting records for many years I have invested in some bedroom dj gear, consisting of: 2 x Reloop 7000 turntables with Reloop Ortofon concord pick ups. Numark M101USB (2 channel) mixer Klipsch R-15PM speakers I do not have an amp as I am informed it is not needed with these speakers. Mixer and speakers are set to phono. Problem is, there is a humming noise from the speakers when switched on and play back is VERY quiet, even with volume turned up on the speakers. Anybody her able to arise me of what I could be doing wrong? Many thanks in advance.
The History Kid
Might be a grounding issue. Check and see if you get feedback like that when no source is connected, and then attempt to use an alternative source. If the problem persists at that point, try a different A/C outlet. If it still is an issue, it may be a factory defect.
Noggin
Thanks for the reply. I´m not home but will try later. Apparently the Reloops don´t need to be grounded? I have a feeling I have missed something simple but no idea what Edited December 21, 2016 by Noggin
The History Kid
That could very well be that the line doesn't need it, but you may have a ground loop somewhere else in the system causing trouble. Keep us posted.
pbphoto
If your TT's are connected to the mixing board, and then your MB is connect to the R-15PM via RCA cables, make sure the phono input is set to LINE. I do the same thing with my R-15PMs except instead of TT's, I have microphones into my MB. Works great. Another thing to try is playing something via bluetooth or directly connecting your laptop/iphone via headphone jack to the phono input (set to line) on the R-15PM.
Noggin
Cheers. This is how I have it atm: This is one TT. The switch is at phono. Edited December 21, 2016 by Noggin

pbphoto
So if you are going from the master on the mixing board to the phono on the Klipsch, you want to change it (the Klipsch) to line I believe.
Noggin
Still nothing. I´m missing something simple, I´m sure of it. The stereo indicator lights are not illuminating on the mixer, if that has any meaning.
pbphoto
You could try setting the TT's to line, then plug them into the line-inputs on the mixing board, and keep the master RCA cables going to the phono input (set to line) on the Klipsch. Noggin
Still nothing. The only audio I´m getting is very low from the turntable. Tried going direct to headphones but no luck.
pbphoto
Is the input on the Klipsch set to purple?

pbphoto
On the Klipsch remote, hit the phono button and a purple light should turn on the front of the right speaker. This indicates the phone/line input is selected. just making sure we have this basic step covered.
Noggin
Yep, got the purple light. Although I have that speaker as the left speaker as i look at it.
pbphoto
You should be getting some sound out then. Can you try playing another source to see if the speakers are working? Connect the headphone jack on your phone or laptop directly to the speakers line-in? or maybe hit the usb button on the remote to get a flashing blue light on the speaker, then connect your laptop or phone via usb? The History Kid
Did you test to make sure that it wasn't occurring without any source connected? This is all moot if you have a pair of faulty speakers.
Noggin
ok, connected laptop direct into speakers with USB. Nothing.
