Just purchased RP-160 5.1 setup, need some friendly advice.

So I just recently purchased this set. Fairly new to the world of high-end audio. My receiver is a Yamaha RX-V1600, had it for years but it's always been great to me. Just not sure if it will provide the power needed for this new setup, previously have only ran a HTIB with it.

Thanks,

That receiver should rock that system. It might lack some of the newer video features a newer AVR might have, but the audio with those RP series speakers will be very nice. I'll bet you're really going to like it. Congrats and keep us posted with your impressions....we love pics:D

Hope you got a good deal on the set. Always makes me a bit sad when I hear of guys paying retail. I did that once and then discovered this forum and found out there are much better places to buy from than places like crutchfield and amazon that all sell for retail pricing.

Welcome

your avr avr will do just fine.

I don't even own a Blu-Ray player, I stream everything, this may cut down on quality of picture and audio but my main focus is audio. I still buy cd's. I'll take a pic when it's setup, got some work to do first.

I can assure you that was not the case here. Purchased new from an authrized retailer for less than $1k ;) Originally was looking for a decent used setup  u til I came across this deal. 7.2 will come in the future, but this is more than enough for my current space.

Man if you still buy cd's you should be watching blurays too. I've yet to hear a streamed movie sound as good as the lossless codecs found on blu ray discs. Not once. Your missing out.

I will eventually, just don't spend a lot of time in front of my tv right now. Agree on the sound quality though. Most of what I stream is off the Plex server and my buddies who host it do a pretty good job with audio quality.
