Klipsch KG 5.2 FIN Speaker Receiver Suggestions

Dayf

Recommended Posts

Thank you for reading my post.  I have 2 Klipsch KG 5.2 FIN Speakers, I believe they are 100w.

Looking for a receiver to power these the way they deserve.   I prefer simple and minimal.

My previous Yamaha receiver died, and I don't know what model it was (my bother gave it to me).

I do know that it punched out clear sound, with awesome bass (no sub).

My audio source is Sonos Connect (pictured, using analog out connections, NOT a wireless connection).  This is currently all I am using this system for.

I do not have a tv.  I won't connect a TV to this system. No surround is necessary.

Bluetooth capability would be a plus (to stream sound from my laptop if I watch Netflix).

Also considerations are Phono and Sub, but not necessary.

I appreciate your time and am grateful for any suggestions.

David

You didn't mention what kind of budget you have to spend, but since you mentioned you had a Yamaha previously, I picked a couple that would meet your needs.

This is the lower end of the Yamaha Aventage AVR line. And though it's a full 7.2 channel receiver it would meet all the needs you mentioned. And you'd be set IF you decided to upgrade to surround or connect a TV.

They also have some really nice integrated amps, that would fill most of your wants (no Bluetooth though) and are much simpler to setup and provide plenty of power.

In all honesty, most of the name brand (Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo, etc) audio/video receivers in the $500-$600 range would meet your needs. And would have plenty of power to drive your KG5.2's.

By the way, the "FIN" relates to the wood finish... In your case "Finished Black"

Dayf(David),

Welcome to the forum.

These should provide you with what you are seeking.

The below Pioneer is currently sold out at A4Less but it actually has a few more features(detachable power cord, stereo and subwoofer preouts, zone 2 stereo preouts) that may suit you.

I appreciate the suggestions...and the specs you found are awesome.  I tried an Aventage before and it was too much of what I don't use, and it didn't really sound good (even with pure direct).  I do like the simple Yamaha 501, would the 301 power these or is it not enough wattage?  Maybe a simple Teac option is available, someone mentioned them to me.    Thank you.

Hey Bill thank you for the suggestions.  I'm not in alignment with these, they seem to have extra features than I need.  I'm not an expert and like to ask questions just so I am in understanding.  Maybe a simpler Yamaha, Onkyo, or Teac Model?

The difference between the 501 (85 wpc) and 301 (60 wpc) would amount to about 1.5 dB less output. So it would still be quite capable of driving the KG 5.2's.

I know TEAC has some small (sized) components with some of the connectivity options you wanted. But I believe their output power is between 20-30 wpc. That may be enough if you listen at lower levels.

I'm not as familiar with their recent products, whereas the Yamaha Integrated Amps are relatively well known.

I appreciate you helping me with this.  I picked up a Cambridge Audio Azur 651A Integrated Amp, a local shop is letting me borrow this for 4 days.  It sounds great so far.

If I take it the charge would be $375 out the door.  It was a floor model from mid/late summer 2016.  I trust these guys.  So far it sounds great.  If I decide not, then I will go with your suggestions of the 501 or 301.

Nice amp.  I have a CA 640A V2 sitting idle right now but it has in the past driven my RB-75's and Heresys and has done a fine job doing so.

I think you will continue to enjoy it and be pleased with the price.
