Crackling Sound from tube amp

1st thing always is to excercise/clean the sockets by pulling and reseating the tubes.  Contact resistance builds over time and easily causes noise in high impedance environments.  Many vintage broadcast equipment manuals recommend this on a seasonal basis as preventive maintenance.

Of course it may may be something more serious, but this first.

Actully it turned out to be the preamp.

I wiggled the tubes and the noise stopped.

Thanks.
