luddite
I have a chance to acquire an Empire 598 TT. A guy I know is getting rid of it, a pair of Bose 901 series 1's and some old vinyl. I could buy the lot, or pieces individually. The 598 is in good shape, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I have a Thorens TD 160 which I use. Any thoughts? luddite
I kinda thought the same. The Empire would be a backup turntable. It has a look, retro and all, with burnished gold tonearm, nice ?mahogany base, integrated dust cover. Cutting edge for 1970. Guess you could say the same for the 901's. But I can't tell about the cartridge, and the turntable looks needlessly complicated. More a conversation piece.
