Klipsch-daddy
I have a 2 year old rca receiver. It does not have a output for a optical cable. Is there going to be a big difference in optical output vs. s-video for sound. If so where can I pick up one of these receivers and are they pricey? JewishAMerPrince
Perhaps you mean optical vs coax for sound? It is generally accepted that most devices do better on coax than optical. There is no engineering explination for this other than perhaps some distortion introduced by the elect optical conversion/downconversion process. ------------------ Main System: Mitsubish Gold+ 65" Denon 3801 Toshiba 5800 DVD Sony 5 disc CD changer Klipsch RF3 fronts RC3 center RS3 surrounds Quintet's for rears ( cheap way out, I know..but it works!) Audio Flynn
***umptions: -You mean sattelite receiver for Direct TV -S Video cable carries no audio signal -you have a DD 5.1 and DTS Audio Receiver or preamp 2 channel analog output from the older SAT receiver allows you to receive stereo and Pro Logic signals decoded in the satellite receiver. I am not aware of a satellite receiver that has a coax output; only optical. The Dish Network 6000 I use outputs optical. My preamp actually decodes prologic better than the satllite receiver. We are watching one of my favorite mindless goofy movies as we speak(type), "Starship Troopers".
avman
i've seen some digital(hughes)sat rcvrs w/ coax digital out. however my current dish network(NOT hughes/directv BUT dishnetwork)has dig.opt. out and i am VERY happy w/ that. the diff. between dig.opt and dig.coax is much less than the unfortunate cable customers in this area that don't even have digital audio NOR hd tv at all!! cable SUCKS!!!!!! avman.
