mobile homeless
Via Audiogon right now, for those that want to try out a modern KT-88/EL-34/6550/6L6/etc tube amplifier from Cary Audio, here is a GOOD deal on a AES/Cary SUPER AMP with Jensen Copper Oils Caps (a nice upgrade) and some fine tube choices including some of the best modern KT-88 in the Svetlana option. Also comes with good NOS input/driver tubes. Price? $700. For those not wanting to mess with old vintage gear, this makes for a nice amp. Very flexible as it can roll all the tubes above due to the auto bias scheme. Can be converted to full triode mode as well as manual fixed bias. Will sell for the same you paid so another fun way to try tubes out. Audiogon Link to Super Amp Ad: http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?ampstube&1038142086&class&3&4& Ad Text: quote: One sweet amp! This is the much loved AES Superamp from Cary Audio. A Stereophile recommended component that many say sounds like $20,000 mono blocks! (personally I don't know as I can't afford to get close to something like that but go to upscaleaudio.com for the full details)This particular amp has recently been upgraded w/ Jensen copper PIO caps ($350 upgrade)& it comes w/ the Svetlana KT-88 power tube upgrade ($90 upgrade at Upscale)and I will throw in a few NOS pairs of the 6CG7 input tubes to sweeten the deal (RCA Clear tops and Sylvania are NOS never used and a few RCA Blackplates and Tung Sol that are used but test strong) Overall about $1700 value for only $700! It will CRUSH any amp close to this price point and allow you to try just about any power tube out there! note: The above pic was taken of Chris Robinson's Super Amp. kh This message has been edited by mobile homeless on 09-25-2002 at 10:41 AM
Deang
Damn. $700! Talk about practically giving it away! O.K. folks. This is basically what I run, and though Moondogs it probably ain't -- it is definitely a giant killer. This is the amp Mobile twisted my arm to buy, and I loved it so much I eventually upgraded to the DJH version of the same amp. www.superamp.com http://www.audiophile.com.au/aes_specs/ae25saspecs.html http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/aes_ae25_superamp.htm
Deang
It didn't even last a whole day. It's gone. Anyone from here get it?
