Klipsch R-14S or R-15M for surround speakers

Recommended Posts

Hi there

At the moment I have a stereo system with two R-26F.

I want to upgarde to a 5.0 and later maybe 6.0 system.

For the two surround speakers i don't know if I should pick the R-14s or R-15m. I am sitting on a couch with a short distance to back wall (approx. 1 feet). The speakers will be placed at the left and right hands side of the couch near the wall.

Which of these two you think would be the better choice.

If you need any more information please let me know.

Sorry for any mistakes in the text, english is not my first language

Best Regards

Andri

That distance is a bit too close to be great but will still work imo.  I would recommend the s speakers because they diffuse the sound a bit more and are shallower when on the wall.  It would be very beneficial to mount them above ear level so they dont play directly at your ears and are high enough to reach other seats i.e. not be blocked by a head.

Ok thanks, but would you place the R-14S on the wall like rear speakers or like surround speakers (place left and right hand side of the sofa)

1ft is very close, i would prefer to move the couch forward another 2 or 3 feet.

but assuming that is a No, i would test both to see what sounds better.  quite likely the back corners is best in that sitch.

i much prefer to the sides as illustrated, but with the seats and surrounds so far back im concerned it may not work well so i wiuld test until it works best
