tom b. 57 Posted March 3, 2018 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I am ready to pull the trigger on this cartridge to mount on my Scoutmaster, but the price is making me hesitate. I have a Zu modified Denon DL 103 mounted on it now and it sounds great, but because of my mental illness I have the overwhelming desire to try the Soundsmith cartridge. Anybody familiar with this cartridge? Do you think I will hear a significant difference between the two cartridges? Any input will be appreciated. Schu Posted March 3, 2018 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Significant... no. I've had both a 103r and a couple soundsmiths... including and Aida on a fully outfitted Classic II VPI. I wasn't blown away over a hotrodded Rega P5/103r. It was Several thousand dollar more in investment that may have yielded 5% better sound stage... if that.
