When they say 400 watts they mean amplifier max output, but that's not RMS, I have not seen anywhere where it says 400 watts RMS. I think Klipsch could really deliver a killer system, but they don't want to out do their quintets. As for the amp, I've read it has an insane amount of power. It outputs 400 watts at full volume, but handles 600. The reason they aren't that loud is because of their efficiency.
