  1. Darn, so I'll take that as a "no I'm not selling them" then? Figured I'd ask because of you having dynaudio for your pc setup. Anyway, thanks for replying. Maybe a pair will pop up on ebay some day (probably not, people who still have them will have no reason to sell them, I think).
  2. ...and have been coming up short everywhere I've looked. I used to be a forum regular here back in the day before I switched to headphones. I remember theEar had a pair, sent him a pm that he hasn't answered yet, so I figured I'd post a thread on it. US Ebay has nothing, UK ebay seems like a better choice because they at least have other videologic products there. Anyone know of good places to check for these?
  3. Well, I have the hd600s as my primary listenning source w/ a revolution 7.1 with the mad codec. It's nice, but I miss some detail because of the case fans, and I don't want to make myself go deaf, so I go w/o on my computer. I asked sennheiser if 600's were upgradable to the 650's, no reply, sennheiser doesn't have the best support in my experience. Basically the 650 is a better damper, but should I pay $450 for them just because of that w/ a better wire? I think they should let us upgrade for like $100 or something. Anyways, for the record, regardless of how good your system is, you get used to it. These things still make me smile from time to time w/ their detail, but I've gotten used to them. On the side of non secluded listening, I got my dad to buy the microworks with the cambridge music system thing to replace his 15 year old bose. They do a fair job, the treble is lacking, and the bass is loose, but it does the job while being small and looking dad (#1 for my dad, I just had to get him away from bose). I wanted to go for the 413 or whatever, the high end sattelites, too expensive though. Come on, this thread needs to continue.
  4. We must keep this above ear's 5.1 thread.... I'll ask a question, what is the best sound quality you have ever heard? Good movie theater? home system? headphones?
  5. James, seriously, you need to get a life, this was a totally pointless thread you started, as its sole purpose was to try to piss ears off. 1st off, you haven't read his other posts obviously, you only have 21, so you really haven't been here that long, a day is not enough to actually read some of his posts. And even if he was some type of crazy fanboy, he's a good one, as he gives good info to anyone who asks questions, and has helped a lot of people. You on the other hand, seem to either naturally dislike the cream of the crop, (you probably diss porsche and bmw if you are into cars), or you are working for one of svs's competitors.
  6. .... make sure you guys don't let this thread die.
  7. "This post is getting childish,,,hey Ry WOW you have money and WOW so do i... Who the HELL cares how much money you have." It was childish from the start. Ry claims ear egged him on... you fool, what was the topic? I seriously doubt that you own that car, or are rich at all. The reason for me thinking this: 1. rich people tend to be smart, but who knows, if you are, you are one of those lucky guys who hit big, 2. It's incredibly easy to post a pic of a cobra, I have a 1969 zl-1 corvette in my garage, wanna pic? and yes, that is a better car than your precious cobra, no kidding that there is always better, 3. There is a chance that you are as you claim, but that would make you, as someone hinted at, lacking in a few areas that you need to try so hard, on a speaker forum, to make people respect you. About bein smart, money doesn't bring happiness, the endless pursuit of wealth gets old, it just takes a lot longer for the stupid people to figure that out. But I guess if your life is empty enough that gainning money is the only thing to do, well I feel sorry for you. Sorry for all the truth I hit on, if you do own what you claim, but you provoked it. You need to be put in your place, money doesn't make you better than the next person.
  8. "Tom Vodhanel said Dual CS-Ultras w/TV-12 driver would be able to outperform the Krell Master Reference." Right.... I'll believe that when i see it. Same room, same position, don't believe it, do the math, bigger drivers in the krell, more power, better power, larger excursion, we will ignore the price comparison for now, as well as the size and quality advantages.
  9. True, I guess most of that money goes into the electronics and keeping it that size. Still I'm skeptical about that claim. As I said, near 130 in numbers is a bit different than in spl. If the pull it off, you might be able to reach your nirvana.
  10. Nice to hear, too bad their quality record went down hill after this set...
  11. "If I can get 120dB at 20Hz then its a sure hit for SVS." Is it just me or is that the magical number that only the best of the best are capable of? As in the krell... 1st, when he says close to, I have to question that. If he means 128, that's close to 130 as far as numbers, but a little harder to reach in output. You are going to need a lot more power to push a lot more air for those extra 2 dbs, the difference between 128 and 130 is pretty large as far as accomplishing it with a sub, definately not the same as 108-110 or even 118-120. 2nd, I question how good it is going to sound considering it is bragging about krell numbers at what I'm guessing will be around, 1/4th the price. But then again, I guess the krell is a wonder because it does it all in the 15x15x24 I think it is, I have a feeling this svs will be huge.
  12. "but its hard to believe that there is a better sounding subwoofer for its size." There isn't, as far as the low end and volume.
  13. "Hey Ear, its nice seeing you. I am kind of a fan of yours. Your someone I look up to when it comes to what sub is better." Heh, that's why you need pictures, cement the trust of people on this forum, make their purchase feel better. So was that a good review? Only the sunfire sig tops the rsw15? That's pretty good, considering all the stuff on here I've read about the sub not being that great. Is the rsw tighter than the siggy? In the 30-40 range that is.
  14. heh, the whole thing took me like 2 hours one day or something, amazing.
  15. That was close, saw it move from the main page. Bump....
  16. Yes, finally a webpage. I think you should mount the system in your car (with your patented product of course) and take pics. I've thought about trying that a few times, too insane for me though.
  17. I would have guessed that if you said "no way am I paying $300 for computer speakers" you also would have thought the promedias sound good....
  18. Well, I'd recommend keepin the windows volumes as high as 90%, 100 is told to have distortion, anyway, the 4.1 sub imo was made sort of like a sunfire, in that it is almost too small to be playing that kind of bass, and it has to be setup very carefully to not get a boomy sound. Anyway, I think Klipsch definately got the most out of 2 6 1/2" drivers in terms of putting volume before accuracy, but they weren't meant to play that low, especially in that small enclosure, so you get port noise earlier, you should get port noise at certain frequencies with the pro 4.1, at almost all volumes. 30 hz is an example of that, there is port noise at almost every audible volume. I'd leave the sub at neutral anyway. I wouldn't think there is anything wrong unless you can hear something loose. If the noise is really coming out of the port, then it should be working right.
  19. Wait, zeke, you said for not much more money you can get 2 vtf-3s instead of 1 svs-ultra, right? I'm doin simple math here, cs-ultra=1250 correct? vtf-3=850? So 850+850=1700? 1700-1250=450? 1700+450=2150? Dual cs-ultras=2000? That means for not much more you can get 2 vtf-3s as you said, correct? For even less of an increase from the dual vtf-3s you can get dual ultras, with a difference of $300 as compared to the $450 difference between 1 ultra and 2 vtf-3s. "I do not believe, and I have heard the VTF-3 in my own home, that there is a better subwoofer for output than the SVS Ultra." He refers to that svs ultra being one twice in this sentence saying subwoofer w/o an s, and svs ultra with out dual. Don't get me wrong here, but wouldn't that make the dual ultras a much better choice for output than the dual vtf-3? Now if you can give me a cheaper price than $850 for the vtf-3, than that totally changes things, you did say you could get them under listed right? For $300 more, I don't know; its up for debate if that is worth more output and less definition, although I don't know how significant the difference in either is when compared to the other subwoofer. Sounds like the spl king is still svs, but what I keep thinking is, how much does definition really matter between 15-30 hz?
  20. Yo, gluegun, feel like givin me your source for that 113? I don't believe that, I assume you took that number from a site, and in that case, compare that to the numbers on other sites, with logitech at 114, louder than the ba, and Klipsch 5.1 at 113. These numbers are unreachable in real world performance, or even in test tones, just random peaks. I'd like to hear if you did some tests yourself or if you read that in a respectable review. BTW, I think the sirocco pro could break 113. On 3dss, it peaked at 112 in the 1 khz test tone, but w/o distortion, I think the system could be pushed a little harder with a hp amp hooked up between the sound card and the system, the system didn't have enough gain to reach its real limit. I am willing to bet that it can play real world levels of over 110, possibly real world over 113. When I say real world I mean, not a test tone, something you would actually play while listening to speakers.
  21. I've had mixed results here. I've used my sennheiser 590s with both setups a lot, and the sblive seems to give a crisper sound, being more accurate. This is compared mostly to my sony walkman, but I've tried other cd players, and most of them haven't been as good as the Sony. Then again, the hiss on my sblive has gotten terrible, but I haven't had luck with the digital cd connection in awhile, so I will put the sblive above a portable player, except for the his. The advantage to the audio player is, imo, it has more lowend to it. It's a trade off between accuracy, and flatter response. But then again, the difference is not significant, and won't be noticed on a set of pros anyway.
  22. Don't, to get a dc/ac inverter, which runs between $50-$80, and wire them up, it would be very difficult, if it was cheap, I would have tried it already. The reason to not try this is the price of the inverter, which is too expensive compared to results of the pros in a car, and the fact that starting to build your own car sub is not much more than that amount of money. Plus, ears said there are no multimedia subs tight enough to have even decent results in a car, the pro 5.1 is probably the best choice for a car as far as multimedia goes, but is still not a good idea. But to try the boomier, high x-over v.2-400 sub....
  23. - Tighter bass. Agreed, but not as loud or deep. If you're going to get boomy bass, get the louder, deeper boomy bass. - Non-congested midrange. Listen to a good pair of speakers, then come and say that. - Airy, extended highs. Airy, no, very very far from airy. Possibly airier, but then again, I've read a lot to say the high end of the z-560 is almost as good. Haven't heard a well setup z-560. Extended, I'll give you that, the small advantage to a tweeter. - Subwoofer level much more neutral. True - Dynamic range. No, the z-560s are louder - Superior build quality. Don't have experience with owning z-560, but again I'll give you that. - Better imaging. No, I can't imagine hardly anything having worse imaging than the pros, and this again contradicts everything I've read about the z-560. Remeber folks, the z-560 can be found as cheap as $115 from what I've read, to be fair I'll say $130, almost half the price of the lowest you can find the 4.1s. The way it was with pc speakers is that the only reason to buy the pros was that they were louder and had deeper bass than anything else in the price range. Those were the ONLY reasons, now something beat them in both. When you say there is tighter bass, its not much, and if you want tight bass, you wouldn't get the pros anyway. You can say this for any of the other things the pros are a bit better than the z-560, if people thought tight bass, better highs and a neutral sub, they wouldn't get the 4.1s anyway. Then again, a lot of the draw backs to the 4.1 have been fixed in the 5.1, with the exception of the midrange not being much better, as is with the imaging.
