kenratboy Posted October 11, 2002 Share Posted October 11, 2002 This is not good for a few reasons: 1.) more speakers = more cost 2.) more speakers = more amps = more cost 3.) more speakers = more complex setup, possibly scaring people away Basically, when will it end? I think HT components need to go for the computer route, have the ability to upgrade receivers like a computer. Imagine having your receiver in two parts: Processing and Amplification. You would have PCI cards that you could drop in to upgrade, and for amps, you could have some slots to all additional amps to your system!!! WHY NOT!!! It would be a pain for me to manage 5 speakers, but now we are up to EIGHT channels (7.1 plus the overhead channel) and that just will not work in any of my current setups. This over evolution of surround sound will surely turn peole away from interest in the market. My 5.1 sounds better than almost every movie theater I have been in.
