mpetrich
I have the opportunity to pick up an 8" polk powered sub which was struck by a lightening surge for $25. I'm willing to put some work into it but is it worth it or is this thing garbage now?
jtkinney
The amp is probably toast, the switching power supplies don't usually like big voltage/current spikes. The speaker may or may not work. Depending on what failed first, the amp may have protected the speaker. If it was me, I would pass. An 8" sub isn't going to have much bass anyway. prodj101
don't do it, the repairs will be more of a hastle than the 25 dollars. plus, when all is said and done, you'll probalby have spent more on the replacement parts.
