call around to some local furniture shops you might be surprised how cheap it would be to refinish them if the veneer isnt in too bad of shape. 

 

i had a pair of walnut lacquer k-horns that had lots of scratches in them that i was going to refinish myself but thought id check prices for having them done professionally... they estimated about $150 each to sand & relacquer them & one or 2 deep scratches they would "repair" but wouldnt be a perfect match.  to reveneer just the big front bass bin board would have been about $300-$400 for the pair,  the tops & sides didnt need new veneer.  these are midwest prices, might be more or less in your area.  

 

so, for chorus to reveneer or refinish i bet it would be pretty cheap.  also if they are black & you want to keep them black, its very cheap & easy to paint them.
