RW-5802 II Pop

Hello everyone,

I just installed the RW-5802 II along with the recommend RSA-500 Amp.  I have the Lowpass set all the way down to 40 and the Level set 1/2 way.  Bass sounds good at that setting.

The sub is paired with the PRO-250RPW for the 3 fonts and a pair of PRO-180RPC for the surrounds.  My receiver is a Denon AVR-5800.

In reading the manual I see that there is an Equalizer Selection and should be at 1 but I'm not sure what it is currently at (I'll check on that).  Power mode is set to Auto.

I am using the LFE input for this connection to my Denon.

My issue is that every once in a while I hear a pop from the sub.  Not sure if I need to change a  setting or maybe it is the power setting?

Had that sub and amp abit back now. There should be four settings to click for the best sound with a screwdriver. As for the occasional pop, is it coming from the RW5802 for sure? Not much of a manual for troubleshooting. Just be patient and others will give you their take on the issue. Meanwhile, make certain all connections are solid and...Welcome to the forum...

Yes, definitely coming from the sub.

I'm gonna go through the Denon Sub settings to verify those are correct.

I moved and everything was unplugged for a good week.

Alright I see problem after the move? Of course, you have the option to move to the other side for the 2 subs hookup just for a check also.

Meanwhile, some subbers here have not seen the back of the RSA-500 so, a pic may help them.

Do you have the amp or receiver plugged into an outlet that's shared with any other things that would be turning on and off occasionally?  If so, try plugging them in a different outlet to see if that helps.

Check all connections, especially RCA cables.

Also, my SVS subs will sometimes make a popping sound when they come out of sleep mode.  Try setting the amp to On instead of Auto and see what happens.

I have the Receiver plugged into a PANAMAX M5400-PM and the AMP plugged into the Receiver.

After reading the manual on the Power mode, I feel that's what it could be.  I will change that and see what happens.

Thanks for your responses!

Here is a pic from the manual of the amp

Here are the 3 options for Power Mode.

5. Power Mode Selection
The Power Mode switch has three settings – “Trigger”, “Auto”
and“On”. In the “Trigger” position, leave the Master Power switch
in the “On” position and set the Power Mode switch to the
“Trigger” position, then the amplifier will automatically turn itself
on and off when 5-30 volts DC is detected or removed from the
rear panel 1/8" Trigger jack. Tip is positive, ring is negative.
There is no delay when using the Trigger function. In the “Auto”
position, leave the Master Power switch in the “On” position and
set the Power Mode switch to the “Auto” position, then the
amplifier will automatically turn itself on and off when an audio
signal is detected or removed from the rear low or high level
inputs. There is a 2 second On delay and a 15 minute Off delay
when using the Auto Power function. In the “On” position, the
Master Power switch turns the amplifier on or off. Set the Master
Power switch to the “On” position and set the Power Mode

switch to the “On” position, then the amplifier will turn itself on
and off with the Master Power switch.

Most receivers or other devices that have a convenience plug-in are designed to have low power, low current things like a CD player, Bluray player, etc plugged into them, not a high power device like an amplifier.  I'd plug the amp directly into the wall unless you have a lot power surges or failures in your area.

I changed the power setting on the AMP to "On" and that resolved it.

No more pop, it must have been going to sleep and when it came back on that was the pop.

I'll have to look at the specs for the amp but the Denon guide just says as long as it's 120V I should be able to use it.

I can move it to the Panamax, I have plenty of open outlets.
