Audio Flynn
http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?ampstube&1037851245&class&3&4& This looks very similar to a HIFI my parents bought the year before I was born in 1959. I have not had the heart to "gut" the awesome solid wood console and play with the amp; my ma still listens to the radio on it and the cabinet is beautiful. Is this a unit worth retubing and or rebuilding?
bluelobster
I'm sure by now a new set of caps in the signal path is due as well as a check to see if the rectifiers are selenium and get those replaced. If the sound is good, I am partial to tubes, give it a tune up!
mike stehr
Well IMO, they want to much for the one on Audiogon. But If you get your Ma's, why not? If you love the looks of Ma's console, leave it alone and just restore it. Some of these old tube consoles are just too nice looking to trash. Audio Flynn
The cabinet is really cool; family heirlom material. I am going out to see them to do some pheasant hunting tommorrow and will have to get some madol and serial number information.
