gsoneill@citlink.net Posted November 6, 2002 Share Posted November 6, 2002 howdy all. i recently purchased a pair of Forte I in oiled oak and noticed that the label on the back of each speaker (near the binding posts) says that the nominal impedance is 4 ohms. Everything else I have ever read (including the owner's manual) suggests that the Forte I has always been 8 ohms. Can anyone shed any light on this? thanks in advance. I guess what i really want to know is why some forte's are apparantly 8ohms while others are 4 ohms? can a 4ohm forte be modified to 8 or even 16 ohms? as i understand it, lower impedance requires that the amplifier(transformer) has to work harder to acheive the same volume output as a higher impedance. Brian HCM#1 Posted November 11, 2002 Share Posted November 11, 2002 The lower the ohmage the lower the resistance is. Most amps are stable at 4 ohms.
