hornsofplenty
Hi all, here comes another desperately rookie question... A system of two Klipschorns is planned for use in an Ambient music "listening"/performance event, at least for the playing of recorded music (vinyl and hi-quality digital) before a live performance by a guest artist. An amplifier is yet to be defined for this setup. Is it feasible/desirable for the live performance – our first guest plays sitar and synthesizers – to somehow run through the same system (via a mixing board) as opposed to a separate P.A.? If it is feasible/desirable from an audio standpoint, what amplification and other components (including for seamless transition from DJ to live performer) would be advised? Thanks in adv! Just plug your recorded music into the P A mixing board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tony Whitlow
And... run the board into the amplifier and K-Horns? Pls say more [emoji4]Yes. Should be simple enough if you have the necessary channels. The TT would probably need a phono preampYour digital device would need analog outputs. hornsofplenty
The turntables (Technics) and digital turntables (Pioneer) would go into a Urei rotary mixer, then the output from there (to the mixing board)... Would certain amplifiers (post-mixing board) work better than others given we're going out to it from a mixing board? E.g. SS vs Tube/SET? JerryC
And remember that Klipschorns are very efficient so you don't need a big amplifier, especially since you are using them for ambient background music. If you have to choose between a quality amp and high power, go for quality.
babadono
Just make sure the line level outputs from the Urei go to LINE LEVEL(as opposed to MIC INPUTS) inputs on the main mixing desk.
